sunday dinner

its a tradition at my grandmothers house that everyone comes over after church and we all have sunday dinner together. living in ky during college i (and amy) got really used to the awesome home cooked food that my grandmother always made, and this sunday was no different. we had a full house of me, josh, little miss, mom, amy, david, mamaw, my aunts and uncles, my cousin david his wife and 4 kids, and my cousin steph and her 3 kids.

we had mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, deviled eggs, rolls, some sort of fruit salad my aunt made (cant remember what its called, but i ate lots), banana pudding, and a few more things that i cant remember....needless to say i ate plenty...and then even better....a few hours later you start in on the left overs.

but its not just about the food....its about family...and it was great getting to see my cousins. i havent seen david in i dont know how long, and i have met his oldest daughter, but she was very little then. so to get to see his 3 girls and his brand new baby boy was great. and we had so much fun playing with all the kids.

when they first got there the girls all wanted to play hide and seek, and since little miss and "a" wouldnt hide by themselves (or count) me, david, and josh, got to play too.

"l" was awesome at hiding and was normally the last one to be found... "j" is the oldest and would help out the little kids, she was a pretty good hider too. little miss and "a" werent near as creative, but the big kids played along and were good sports about pretending they couldnt find them. :) they are all such great kids.

later that afternoon when "k" was there, the girls decided to play croquet.....it was a little scary...its funny to watch them try and play, and it brought back great memories....for as long as i can remember, all of us grandkids all played croquet together, it seems like the instant we arrived we were always talking papaw into going out and playing with us, and he always did :) .

so rox put the wickets up in a straight line and let the girls go for it. of course the older girls were better, but we all had a good laugh.

later that night mom and i set it up right and actually played a few games, i still got it....i beat her both times :) and it was another beautiful sunset :)
