blue heron winery

i love a good glass of wine, who doesnt. and to me, its even cooler when you have visited the winery and the people who actually make it. as it turns out these people are related through my grandmother and are there for distant cousins of mine. it was such a pretty place, and not at all what you would expect to find in indiana. even cooler is the fact that they have a huge sandstone celtic cross that was hand carved on the land too.

it was a nice little drive up to indiana,

over the ohio river and to the winery. we stopped and had lunch at a little place across from the "marina". it was good home cooked food, and i got to try fried mac and cheese....yes fried mac and cheese, and it was good :)

after that it was on to the winery. you drove up a hill on this little gravel road and it brought you out at the winery overlooking the ohio river. it was beautiful! and even though it was really hot, it was nice and breezy up there.

little miss had a great time running around and swinging on the porch swing. then it was time to taste some wine....my mamaw even tried some :) it was great wine and we even ended up buying 2 bottles (of course we drank those when we got back to ga), and mom bought a few.

then it was off to see the celtic cross. the guy who carved it, has never had any sort of classes or training in carving, but he did an amazing job.

it was so cool to see! and unbelievable in the detail and size of it. after that it was back to mamaw's house to do a little bit of wine drinking....we even found cool wine glasses! (if you know my grandmother you know what a shock this is :)

it was a beautiful ending to a great day.....nothing quite like a kentucky sunset :)
